Parents
Parents are an essential component to the functioning of the squadron. Parents are not simply transport for the children to and from cadets, they are advocates, supporters, and stakeholders in the program. Parents even have the opportunity to be more of a guiding force for the program by getting involved with our units Parents Committee. However a parent wants to be involved, it is important to the success of our squadron generally and each cadet specifically that each parent remains committed and involved in the cadet program. IMPORTANT UPCOMING EVENTS:

WHAT I NEED TO KNOW AS A PARENT
Most families will play an active role in supporting their young Cadet in the family, from ensuring they arrive at the weekly program and activities on time, making sure they have their uniform in pristine condition, or supporting their goal of studying for an important exam on their way to their glider licence.
We need many volunteers to operate the Parent Committee, from helping with fundraising to supporting the many programmed activities throughout the year. Many of our volunteers are parents of the Cadets and enjoy some of the same rewarding and positive experiences of the programs that their children do.
Some parents decide that to be an active part of the Squadron, they either register as an official member of the Parents Committee that helps to plan and organize other volunteers, or they help with fundraising and some training activities.
If nothing else, having an Air Cadet in the family usually means a busy week, busy training year and a fulfilling few years as you watch your son or daughter grow into a disciplined, skilled and mature citizen as they confidently move into their adult life.

FUNDRAISING
Fundraising efforts are vital to the Cadet organization. Though the cadet program receives government funding, extracurricular activities, such as field training and gliding, are paid for through the fundraising done annually by the parent committee. In order for our Cadets to enjoy numerous activities throughout the year, we require rigorous fundraising campaigns. These activities are so important to the success of our cadet program.

Because of complications from Covid19 and varying government regulations, fundraising for the 2021/2022 Cadet year is still being determined. Please check back here regularly as things change from month to month during this pandemic time.
